I had a girl so catholic -
A virgin and pristine.
Acid changed her state of mind
so all she does is dream.
Now I'm working for the state
I've seen the other side
My patients worn so full of hate
these things I cannot hide
She wants more than anyone
Money can't satisfy
her quest for truth and inner peace
has left her high and dry

I didn't do much; didn't do it then
Don't think I haven't tried
It seems to me there'll always be
some dreamer who asks why

(break down my nerves can't take it
break down and try
you self-conceited soul-less slut
show me that you cry)

I had a friend commit suicide
and to this world it's a crime
Acid changed his framed of mind
In sanitarium he did time
Now I'm laying wall to wall
I've seen the cracks between tile
I wore my knees on my blue blue jeans
and he came to me all the while
He wanted more than any score
Drugs couldn't satisfy
his quest for truth and inner peace
left us when he died

I didn't do much; didn't do it then
Don't think I ever cried
It seems to me there always be
some dreamer who asks why

(break down my nerves can't take it
break down and cry
your selfish savage sacrifice
shows me you didn't try)
